  • Tax revenues. In FYE 2011, Walmart collected on behalf of the state of New York more than $372.6 million in sales taxes. Walmart paid more than $97.4 million in state and local taxes in the state of New York in FYE 2011.
  • Benefits for New York businesses. In FYE 2011, Walmart spent $11,904,057,687.00 for merchandise and services with 2,466 suppliers in the state of New York.  As a result of Walmart’s relationship with these suppliers, Walmart supports 136,199 supplier jobs in the state of New York.
  • Job opportunities. As of June, 2011, Walmart employs 36,061 New York residents, providing the employees with a competitive wage, affordable benefits, and a chance to build a career.
  • Savings. Research conducted by the Global Insight Study concludes that on average Walmart saves American families $3,100 each year, regardless of where they choose to shop.
